A series of imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole were synthesized by reacting 4, 5-diphenylimidazole-2-thione with ketones in presence of iodine or bromine in a single step. The products were generated in good yields and characterized by standard analytical techniques such as IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectrometry. The synthesized products were also screened for their antimicrobial activities.
