Synthesis and antibacterial activity of oxazaphospholan-2-ones/ thiones/ selenones
Abstract
A new series of 5-[2-(9h-4-carbazolyl)ethyl]-3-isopropyl-2-phenoxy-1,3,2λ5- oxazaphospholan-2-ones/ thiones/ selones (5a-j) were prepared by reacting 1-(9H-carbazol-4-yloxy)-3-(isopropylamino)propan-2-ol (1) with dichlorophenyl phosphine (2a)
and phosphorodichloridates (4d-j) in toluene in the presence of triethylamine under N2atmosphere. All the title compounds were evaluated for antimicrobial activity to determine their efficacy and were effective in suppressing the growth of bacteria. The compounds show significant to high anti bacterial activity when compared with other Oxazaphospholan-2-ones/
thiones/ selenones. The chemical structures of the title products were characterized by IR, 1H, 13C, 31P-NMR, mass spectral studies and elemental analysis.
