Synthesis of β-lactums are always most attractive and challenging to a synthetic organic chemist. Various routes for the synthesis of β-lactum derivatives have been reported in the literature. In this review, our endeavour is to accumulate few important reports on the synthesis of β-lactums and their further applications so as to assist researchers who intent to pursue research in this field.
